Details and codes relating to refrigeration equipment can be a minefield let alone confusing at the best of times. Taking detail from the above J E Hall condensing unit selection page we can use the JE HALL Fusion Scroll JEHS-0500-B2-M3 condensing Unit as an example.
JEHS: This Prefix refers to J E Hall Fusion Scroll which denotes the condensing unit is running on a Scroll compressor. The scroll compressor is now more widely used given it’s efficiency over reciprocating compressors. Any J E Hall condensing unit running on a reciprocal compressor will have the prefix JEHR. The scroll compressor also comes with a number of energy efficiency options such as variable speed, 2 stage and digital. Another unique aspect of the Copeland scroll is the compressor adjusts to load and represents substantial savings on electric.
0500: This part of the prefix refers to the HP (horsepower), 0500 being 5.0hp. JE Hall technical bulletins will also refer to the specific Copeland Scroll compressor ie the 5hp scroll compressor being the Model: ZB38KQE-TFD
B2: Refers to the development process and the continuing evolution of of the J E Hall Condensing Unit. B refers to Unit generation so B will be second generation and 2 will refer to Unit Series so B2 denotes Second generation Series 2. A useful point would be to itemize the JEHS-0350-B2-M and the JEHS-0350-B3-M. This no more than confirms that the entire series of J E Hall condensing unit are in a continuing state of development. B2 remains available while the B3 is rolled out. There is, of course, a small uplift in cost (B3) which represents the ongoing development.
M: This is the application type which denotes M for Medium/High temperature and L for Low temperature. Medium/High temperature correlates to Medium/High pressure while Low temperature refers to Low pressure. Medium temperature condensing units apply to applications such as Dairy produce, cellar cooling, Cold rooms for florists, fruit and vegetables and keg stores. While fresh meat and fish should ideally be stored at -2c to +2c this is still classed as a medium/high temperature application. L refers to low temperature applications such as low temperature freezer rooms with temperatures around -20c.
Power Supply: This will be donated by either 3 or 1. Three phase (400V/50hz) condensing units will be denoted by 3. Single phase (230v/50hz) will be denoted by 1. Some J E Hall condensing unit applications will be available in both single and three phase such as the following: JEHS-0200-B2, JEHS-0250-B2, JEHS-0300-B2, JEHS-0350-B2, JEHS-0350-B3, JEHS-0400-B3.
